A new musical stage version of an old Twentieth Century Fox movie, Miracle On 34th Street offers theatre-going families the chance to put themselves well and truly in the Christmas spirit. The original film hit cinema screens as long ago as 1947, although Richard Attenborough did star in a well-received 1994 remake. When a white-bearded gentleman named Kris Kringle saves a department store’s blushes by standing in as Father Christmas in the annual Thanksgiving Parade, his new employers are suitably grateful. Until, that is, Kris starts claiming to be the real Santa Claus...
