The late, great Edwin Starr may have shuffled off the mortal coil back in 2003, but his band continues to keep the faith. The UK’s favourite adopted Soul son, Starr was most famous for his storming 1970 protest classic, War, but also enjoyed a string of other hits during his long and illustrious career. The fellas who played as his backing band, The Team (aka The Edwin Starr Band), have continued to perform, keeping Edwin’s memory and music alive, and are fronted by the Soul legend’s younger brother, Angelo. “In the early days after Edwin’s death, it took a little while to assure ourselves that we still wanted to carry on,” recalls Angelo, “but as time carried on, we all found that being The Team wasn't just 'what we do', it was 'who we are'.”
