Following success in 2023, the JQ Beer Weekend, celebrating all that’s wonderful about beer, is coming back to the Jewellery Quarter this Spring, organised by the JQBID.

From Friday 19 April - Sunday 21 April, 24 venues across the area are taking part in the second JQ Beer Weekend. Visitors who buy a drink at six venues will be able to take home a free JQ Beer Weekend t-shirt, featuring our cheeky seagull mascot.

The Jewellery Quarter isn’t just a place for making and selling jewellery, it also has a thriving food and drink scene. The area is packed with hip new bars and good old-fashioned pubs, serving a huge range of real ales, craft beers and even local brews, with Burning Soul Brewery and Rock and Roll Brewhouse making beer right here in the JQ.

Our Beer Weekend has something for everyone with family friendly pubs, beer gardens, roof terraces and dog friendly bars galore. There’s also plenty of places to grab some food alongside a pint – with JQ pubs that serve everything from curries to a Sunday Roast featured in the Beer Weekend. There are also special events and offers to check put on all three days – everything from discounted drinks, to live music and DJ sets. There’s time to visit all your old favourites and discover a few new pubs too, whilst still drinking responsibly. Check the event guide for details of opening times, events and any special offers for each venue.

Visitors who pick up a JQ Beer Weekend guide from any of the 24 pubs, can collect stickers from each venue where they purchase a drink (including non-alcoholic drink options). Six stickers can be redeemed for a t-shirt at one of the six collection points throughout the Quarter. There are a limited number of t-shirts available, but anyone who misses out can contact JQBID after the event to be entered into a prize draw.

The six t-shirt host venues, who are our event sponsors, showcase the wide variety of fantastic venues we have taking part:

The Rose Villa Tavern – a traditional pub at the heart of the Jewellery Quarter, with a beautifully tiled interior, warm welcome, great pints and views of the Chamberlain Clock. It doesn’t get much more JQ than this!

The Red Lion – Recently taken over by Joules Brewery, this old Jewellery Quarter favourite continues to go from strength to strength, with award winning roasts and one of our favourite beer gardens when the sun is shining.

The Rolling Mill – Sports Bar, Restaurant, and venue, with loads of great deals on food and drink including bottomless lunches.  We love all the spaces at The Rolling Mill – including the quirky mezzanine with its transport mural – harking back to the industrial heritage of the building.

Somewhere in Brum – This unique basement bar has impeccable vibes, mouthwatering Indian street food from Notty Bites coming from the recently reopened kitchen and a Beartown tap takeover supplying excellent beers.

The Wolf – The Wolf stock the widest range of beers we’ve ever seen in cask, cans and bottles, including an excellent selection from local breweries Rock and Roll and Burning Soul. They have been craft beer specialists since 2017 and are always happy to help you find your perfect pint.

Barrelstore JQ- We had never heard of barrel aged beer before the Attic Brew Co. team opened their barrelstore here in the Jewellery Quarter, but now we can’t wait to try it when it’s ready! Nestled under the railway arches this is a great place to grab a L'Arco pizza or a cocktail as well as their award-winning craft beer.
