Smart, modern and stylish, Thai Edge is one of Brindleyplace’s best established and most popular restaurants - and after paying a lunchtime visit to the eatery it’s easy to see why. The venue offers a relaxing and enjoyable atmosphere in which to savour your meal, and appeals to a wide range of clientele, from business people to students, and even the occasional international cricketer - Freddie Flintoff grabbed himself a Thai green curry there after the Edgbaston Test! The Thai Edge menu offers plenty of choice, with all dishes being beautifully and imaginatively presented. Starters include Tom Yam (a spicy Thai soup served with chicken, prawn or vegetables and lemon grass and chilli) and see klong mou yang (grilled spare ribs marinated in Thai sauce). There’s also Keaeng Juad (Thai-style soup with glass noodles, seaweed and deep-fried garlic) and Poh Pia, which is basically a crispy spring roll stuffed with vermicelli and white cabbage. All starter portions are pretty much ideal from a size point of view, stirring the tastebuds without filling the stomach. The main courses are equally intriguing and tasty. Favourites include Pad Thai (stir-fried noodles with bean sprouts and bean curd), Kow Pad Kra Prow (spicy fried rice with minced meat, snake beans and holly basil), and Gaeng Keow Waan (Thai green curry with aubergines and sweet basil). Thai Edge restaurant is a great place to dine out for anybody who likes their food to feature a sophisticated range of flavours. Quiet, contemporary, and blessed with staff who are friendly and attentive yet know how to keep their distance, the eatery is a great place to enjoy a thoroughly rewarding dining-out experience. It’s not the cheapest, but you’re likely to leave feeling that you’ve had value-for-money. You’re also likely to want to pay a return visit some time soon.
