Families can enjoy four outdoor theatre shows in Tamworth’s picturesque Castle Grounds this summer.

The outdoor productions will take place on the lower lawn of the castle grounds near the bandstand, with Tamworth Castle in the background, with families welcome to bring picnic blankets or chairs and settle themselves in their own areas for the performance.

Award-winning Oddsocks Productions will perform Shakespeare’s tragedy, Julius Caesar, to life in their own hilarious and irreverent style on Sunday 9 June, at 6.30pm. Tickets are priced at £12 for adults, £10 for children, or a family ticket for £37.50.

Jellyfish Theatre invites people to their playful, inventive family show, The Wagon of Dreams: The Dragon Wagon, set on a retro caravan on Sunday 28 July. This joyful outdoor show about friendship, food and dragons is packed with puppetry, music and laughter. Tickets are priced at £12 for adults and £10 for children.

Meanwhile, Tethered Wits Ltd are performing two outdoor productions on Sunday 18 August.

The first performance is at 2.30pm with heartwarming classic, The Railway Children, where a mysterious event changes the Waterbury children’s lives forever. This show celebrates the timeless power of love, community and the unbreakable bonds of family. Tickets are priced at £12 for adults and £10 for children.

The second performance is at 5.30pm with the comedy, Jeeves and Wooster, where you are invited to enter the whimsical world of Bertie Wooster, who faces misadventures from ill-fated romance to comical escapades. Tickets are priced at £16, £14 for concessions and £12 for children.

Adey Ramsel, Theatre, Artistic and Events Manager for Tamworth Arts and Events and Assembly Rooms, said; “We’re delighted to be able to bring not one, but four amazing outdoor theatre performances to Tamworth this summer.

Jeeves and Wooster is suitable for children over the age of 7 years, and The Railway Children is suitable for children over the age of 5 years. The Wagon of Dreams is best suited for children aged 4-8 years and Julius Caesar is fun for everybody.
