With its comical Ugly Sisters, matchmaking fairy godmother, drop-dead gorgeous Prince Charming, super-cute mice and fits-one-foot-only glass slipper, Cinderella can justifiably lay claim to being the most popular of all fairytales. Its rich subject matter certainly proved to be fertile ground for the brilliance of Gioachino Rossini, whose early 19th century take on the story is widely considered to be one of his greatest operatic achievements.
This particular celebration of the piece is brought to the stage by Vienna Festival Ballet, for whom the music has been specially arranged. Featuring a talented array of young dancers, the company typically spends eight months of the year performing works from its extensive repertoire in venues across the UK.
