The Severn Valley Railway “Step Back to the 1940s” event is back this summer on 27 & 28 June and 4 & 5 July, and is a unique celebration of wartime Britain, combining history, entertainment and heritage rail travel.

Visitors can travel on steam trains while exploring stations transformed into authentic 1940s settings, complete with military displays, vintage vehicles, live music and costumed reenactors. The event recreates the atmosphere of the British home front during World War II, offering educational and immersive experiences for all ages.

From Winston Churchill speeches to swing dancing and wartime markets, the festival captures the resilience and spirit of the era while showcasing the charm of Britain’s preserved railways.
