This season, the Belgrade Theatre invites audiences to get into the Scottish spirit with a new adaptation of Compton MacKenzie’s comic novel Whisky Galore.

Set on the remote islands of Great and Little Todday during the Second World War, this much-loved classic begins with the British government diverting whisky stocks to the Americans in an attempt to bribe them into supporting the war effort.

Rationing bites, and the thirsty islanders are dismayed to find their own stocks dwindling, until the wrecking of a 50,000 bottle cargo ship seems to promise some relief. But as they race to “save” as much of the precious stuff as possible, stuffy Home Guard officer Paul Waggett soon steps in to stop them taking advantage of their good fortune…

Conceived as a tribute to the fearless all-female touring acting troupes of the post-war years, this new version by Philip Goulding sees a women-only cast breathe fresh life into MacKenzie’s masterpiece.

Ahead of its arrival in Coventry 20-23 June, we’re offering you the chance to win a pair of tickets to the Thursday 21 June show at 7.30pm. All you have to do is answer one question.
