Exhibition: The Clouds Will Burst the Sun Will Shine Again

Seeking solace from a difficult life, Madge Gill found inspiration in spirituality and nature - a fact reflected in the critically acclaimed artwork she produced during her now-celebrated career.
Born in 1882, Madge was a self-taught and prolific artist, using her drawings, paintings and embroidery to explore the struggles she faced, and also to record her experiences of joy and hope.
To add some meat to the bone in terms of the exhibition, its curator, Sophie Dutton, will be in conversation with MAC’s CEO & artistic director, Deborah Kermode, on Thursday 26 October (6.30pm - 8pm).
