1920s-inspired festival Swingamajig returns to Birmingham

Swingamajig returns to Birmingham this April with a fantastic line-up celebrating the best of the 1920s and beyond.

Taking place at Birmingham Botanical Gardens on Saturday 30 April, Swingamajig is a one day festival like no other - bringing together an eclectic blend of music, dance, and cabaret. The festival takes the sounds and styles from the roaring 1920s, and brings them up to date with a modern twist.

Headlining this year is DJ Yoda playing a special 1930s big band/swing set, alongside incredible live acts such as Sam and the Womp, Mista Trick, The Jim Wynn Swing Orchestra, The Hawkmen, and Swingamajig’s own Electric Swing Circus.

There is also have an entire stage dedicated to cabaret, courtesy of the internationally acclaimed Neon Moon. The cabaret will play host to a world class line-up of mind bending performances, including circus, magic, and an adults-only late night Burlesque bonanza.

For those wishing to try some traditional charleston and lindy hop swing dance, the event will be running classes and performances courtesy of the Swing Era taking place in the stunning vintage ballroom, complete with sprung floor. New for this year is the Disco Shed where they will have DJs playing the best in electro swing, house & disco. Expect to see festival favorites as well as showcases from up and coming talent.

Another new area for this year is the Speakeasy stage where you can go to hear live bands playing everything from gypsy jazz to ska, to folk.

The vintage market will be back again this year, where you can buy anything from top hats to vintage records. There will also be a fantastic selection of food and craft drinks on offer, with beer coming from The Attic Brew Co in Stirchley, and food provided by some of Birmingham's best local street food vendors.

Swingamajig is a family-friendly festival and welcomes children accompanied by adults.

Tickets cost £25 and can be bought here. For more information, including the full line-up, visit: swingamajig.co.uk
