Blend Culinary Foundation, based at Alfred Works Food Hall in Digbeth, has announced a new partnership with local food bank and community initiative Feedo Needo, providing hot food to vulnerable families and people experiencing homelessness and bringing together two organisations committed to tackling food insecurity and supporting people facing hardship within Birmingham communities.
The growing partnership forms part of Blend Culinary Foundation’s wider social impact programme, which combines food, education and community engagement to support local people and charitable causes.
A key part of the Foundation’s community work is the Corporate Pledge Days initiative, which is hosted at Alfred Works. The programme offers the chance for businesses and corporate teams to gain hands-on volunteering experience, which directly supports local charities and community organisations.
During the Pledge Days, participating companies help prepare food parcels filled with nutritious essentials and everyday staples, which are then donated to community projects like Feedo Needo.
The first Corporate Pledge Day delivered through the new partnership resulted in 74 food parcels being donated to Feedo Needo, providing crucial, immediate support to those in need.
Feedo Needo is a food outreach project run under the UK Curriculum and Accreditation Body (UKCAB), a UK-registered charity established in 2006. The project provides food and basic support services to vulnerable and homeless people as part of UKCAB’s wider community development activities.
Blend has also seen huge success from its Corporate Pledge Day activity at its Sheffield venues, with Blend Culinary Foundation donating over 800+ food parcels to those in need across the city.
Feedo Needo has built a strong grassroots presence through its outreach work, food distribution programmes and volunteer-led initiatives supporting disadvantaged communities across Birmingham.
As the cost-of-living crisis continues to affect communities across the UK, the partnership aims not only to provide immediate support for those in need but also to encourage long-term corporate social responsibility initiatives and stronger community engagement across Birmingham.
Blend Culinary Foundation and Feedo Needo are now encouraging more businesses, volunteers, and community members to get involved through future Corporate Pledge Days or by making donations.
