Southside Square is a new public realm scheme championed by Southside BID is partnership with Birmingham City Council and Birmingham Hippodrome.  The scheme will construct a new public space for Southside which will for the first time unite Chinatown by removing traffic from the upper part of Ladywell Walk until Thorp St.

The Square will feature a traditional Chinese Arch and be a space which can be used for outdoor cultural performances, festivals, markets and public art. The changes to the highway will also significantly improve public access to Southside, enhance pedestrian & cycle routes into the city and contribute to the wider regeneration of the district.
