Attic Brew Co’s Taproom has been named as the Best Pub & Bar in West Midlands by the National Pub & Bar Awards.
Following 18 months of closures and restrictions, the team behind the Stirchley venue are celebrating being voted the region’s top place to drink. In winning the prestigious award, which aims to shine the spotlight on the best on-trade businesses in the UK, Attic joins a group of just 94 venues from across the country as the best pub/bar in their county.
They’ll now look forward to the national awards where they have the chance to be crowned regional or national winners.
The taproom serves a wide range of beers from Attic Brew Co., one of the city’s most exciting young breweries, but is more than a haven for beer aficionados. “From the 15 rotating taps to the wonderful array of street food vendors that pass through the doors, the level of quality on offer at Attic’s taproom is only matched by the personalised execution,” says Tristan O’Hana, editor of Pub & Bar magazine, which hosts the event. “Great drinks, food, live events and local art all combine to make this venue a worthy National Pub & Bar Awards West Midlands winner.”
The taproom was established in 2018 to provide local people with a space to congregate, a destination for beer fans and space for local artists to showcase their work. Georgina Levin, the taproom’s manager, thinks that this variety has been the key to success. “We’ve really focussed on making Attic accessible to a wide range of drinkers. We put a lot of emphasis on the amazing, forward thinking beer that’s brewed on-site, but we put just as much effort into everything else we do. Overall customer experience is what we really strive for and we can only achieve that if everyone feels comfortable and welcome.”
“We’re so proud of what we’ve been able to achieve in the few years we’ve been here” says Oli Hurlow, one of Attic’s founders. “Our aim has always been to be a business that the people of Birmingham can be proud to call their own and to be recognised like this shows we’re doing something right. It’s a testament to the hard work of the whole team.”
