Birmingham’s oldest pub has launched an online shop.

The Old Crown was established in 1368 and in recent times has been a hotspot for nightlife in Digbeth. The pub temporarily closed its doors in March due to the coronavirus lockdown, missing months of income in what is usually its busiest time of year.

The venue's new online shop brings the pub to your doorstep, with a selection of craft beers, gins, wines & spirits on sale. The pub has also created limited-edition T-shirts and is stocking art by local artists Abbie Severn and Beth Nicol (Bethontwolegs), showcasing murals of both The Old Crown and Birmingham’s skyline.

Having survived the English Civil War and played host for a night to Queen Elizabeth I, The Old Crown is rich in history and has stood the test of time. However, although grants have been created by the government to help businesses during lockdown, The Old Crown doesn't meet the necessary criteria to qualify for a financial award. It will therefore struggle during the coming months without support from regulars and the local community.

Ciaran Healy, the pub's manager, said: “We know some independent businesses have taken steps to keep going in lockdown, and we’re excited to bring The Old Crown to everyone no matter where they are. We’ve worked really hard to make The Old Crown Shop, and hope people enjoy it during lockdown.”

The Old Crown Shop is live now at, with free delivery to any Birmingham postcode (£20 minimum spend to qualify).
