Birmingham Rep has announced an Open Casting call for Birmingham and West Midlands actors to audition for The Rep’s forthcoming Christmas production, Peter Pan.
This Open Call follows the hugely successful call for The Rep’s Spring production of A Midsummer Night’s Dream resulting in three local actors being cast for the show.
Peter Pan is set to wrap up Joe Murphy’s inaugural season, as well as mark the first Christmas show directed by The Rep’s own Artistic Director in over a decade.
This opportunity is open to any passionate and versatile actor-musician based in Birmingham or the West Midlands who are excited by bold, contemporary storytelling. The Rep welcomes applicants from a wide range of backgrounds and experiences, and professional representation is not required to apply.
The Rep has stated it is looking for a core group of actor musicians who are highly proficient in playing the following instruments: drums, bass, rhythm guitar, lead guitar, trumpet, trombone, saxophone plus clarinet, tenor sax, French horn, cornet
To apply for an audition slot, simply complete an online application and submit an instrumental clip at birmingham-rep.co.uk.
The Rep team will then invite selected applicants to audition. Application deadline is Sunday 15 March at 12 noon. Auditions will take place at The Rep on Thursday 19 March.
In the Darling household, the usual bedtime routine is abandoned when Peter Pan flies away with Wendy and her brothers, out over the streets of Victorian Birmingham and all the way to Neverland.
There they find the ultimate paradise for rebels and dreamers…no school…no rules…and certainly no bedtime! The Lost Boys and the Darling children spend their days swimming with mermaids, making mischief with Tinker Bell, and dining on delicious imaginary feasts – the very best of make-believe.
Wendy tries to keep the gang safe from harm, but with Captain Hook and the ticking Crocodile inching ever closer, the children begin to realise the thrill of adventure may come at a price. Can our heroine Wendy avoid walking the plank and summon the courage to grow up on her own terms?
Peter Pan shows at Birmingham Rep from Wednesday 18 November 2026 – Sunday 17 January 2027. Tickets can be bought at birmingham-rep.co.uk
