Birmingham Rocks weekly Sunday live music presentation at Snobs Bar on Broad Street is set to celebrate International Women’s Day in a grand manner this Sunday 9 March.

Not only is the unusual appearance of the 20 piece Big Swing Band, The People’s Big Band, in a Broad Street Bar, but some 10 Chinese dancers from the XI Dance Studio will be there, strutting their stuff to the classic big band sounds of those unforgettable orchestra of the 1940s and 1950s – The Count Basie Orchestra, Glenn Miller, Duke Ellington, re-creating those dance-crazy days of The Swing Era.

The Chinese dancers, overseas students and professional graduates, will be wearing glamourous, traditional Chinese gowns, known Qipao – sometimes known as Cheongsam.
