Birmingham is set to become the global stage for courage, determination, and inspiration as the official dates for Invictus Games Birmingham 2027 are announced.

The Games will run from 10-17 July, with the formal opening ceremony on Saturday 10 July, welcoming nations from around the globe, to the closing party on 17 July, for the participants, their friends and families to celebrate their achievements.

Hosting the Invictus Games marks a momentous occasion for Birmingham, the West Midlands and the United Kingdom. This vibrant and diverse region, known for its rich industrial heritage and cultural dynamism, will welcome wounded, injured, and sick service personnel and veterans from around the world for the eighth iteration of the Invictus Games. Competitors will compete in 9 core sports, with 3 exciting new additions - E-sports, Pickleball, and Laser Run.

These Invictus Games will be centred at the National Exhibition Centre (NEC), one of the UK’s premier event venues, which offers world-class facilities perfectly suited to the needs of competitors and spectators alike. With sports, ceremonies, and accommodation (excluding swimming) all located on-site, the NEC will provide an accessible, integrated and inclusive Invictus Games experience. The swimming events will take place at Sandwell Aquatics Centre, which features a 50m Olympic-standard pool and previously hosted the Commonwealth Games in 2022.

Recovery and rehabilitation are at the heart of the Invictus Games, reflecting the personal journeys of every competitor. Birmingham’s long-standing connections to the Armed Forces and its veteran community make it the ideal host city. The Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham, Royal Centre for Defence Medicine, and Fisher House – which supports Armed Forces patients and their families – all demonstrate the region’s enduring commitment to those who serve and have served.

The Invictus Games will bring significant social and economic boost into Birmingham - attracting thousands of visitors, creating jobs, and showcasing the city’s hospitality, culture, and innovation on the world stage. Local communities will be engaged through extensive outreach and participation initiatives in the run-up to, and throughout, the Games.
