Kosmos, a group of two string players and a virtuoso on the accordion, will be back in Warwickshire, promoted by Leamington Music on Wednesday 20 May.

The visit culminates in an evening concert in the Royal Spa Centre Studio when the audience will be whisked round the world in eighty minutes, listening to klezmer and gypsy music, tangos, and a thrilling selection of pieces from many different countries, with the Balkans and Mediterranean to the fore and some inspiration from classical composers for good measure.

The Kosmos line-up consists of Harriet Mackenzie on violin, Meg Hamilton on viola, plus an accordion player from Serbia, Miloš Milivojević. The group has played in the past in churches in Leek Wootton and Harbury, in Kingsley School, in the Dream Factory in Warwick, as well as a previous visit to the Royal Spa Centre in Leamington.

Earlier in the day, the musicians will give a special concert to children in Castle Hill Baptist Church for local children as part of the Leamington Music Education & Community Programme, which will also be live-streamed to nearly 10,000 children in schools across Warwickshire, Coventry, and Solihull.

Harriet Mackenzie is an outstanding performer on the violin and has recorded concertos with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra and the English Symphony Orchestra. When not in the UK, she is most likely to be in Greece on the island of Spetsai with her husband and family.

Meg Hamilton has travelled and studied in most Balkan countries and is very knowledgeable on the music of Bulgaria, Romania, Turkey, and also Yiddish music. She is also a member of She’Koyokh, which has given very popular concerts in Warwick and Leamington.

Miloš Milivojević came to the Royal Academy of Music in London from Serbia to continue his studies and his advocacy for his instrument is spread through many groups and combinations, including Opera North and on Strictly Come Dancing.
