Join Flatpack as they pop up in Birmingham Cathedral on Saturday 8 December with a couple of festive screenings (and a load of mulled wine) to offer up something a little different amongst the usual suspects of Christmas film fodder.

The Shop Around The Corner
At 4pm, there will be a screening of Ernst Lubitsch’s charming classic, The Shop Around The Corner. Jimmy Stewart and Margaret Sullavan are two shop workers in love and loathing thanks to a classic case of mistaken identity and anonymous correspondence. What follows is 99 minutes of sheer loveliness which would charm the socks off the Grinchiest of Grinches.

Silent Night: The Marvellous Mabel Normand with live score
At 8pm, Flatpack brings this year’s edition of their ever-popular Silent Night series which is all about celebrating the stars of silent cinema. This year offers a long overdue celebration of the original funny lady and irrepressible spirit of early Hollywood, Mabel Normand. She threw the first cream pie, was the first damsel in distress, broke the fourth wall and worked with stars such as Charlie Chaplin and Fatty Arbuckle but make no mistake, in these short films Normand’s the star.

This screening shall be accompanied by a specially composed live score performed by fantastic Meg Morley Trio
