Acclaimed chef and Michelin Young Chef of the Year Kray Treadwell has unveiled an exciting new Signature Tasting Menu at his boundary-pushing restaurant, 670 Grams, located in the heart of Digbeth, Birmingham.
Priced at £135, the new menu is a reflection of Treadwell’s progressive style, playful creativity, and deep connection to his home city.
The menu takes diners on a curated journey of flavour, rooted in Birmingham’s multicultural identity. Each course tells a story; an interpretation of Kray’s upbringing, influences, and the evolving food landscape of the Midlands.
The opening ‘Snacks’ set the tone:
- Balti Pie – a nod to Birmingham’s beloved curry culture
- Vada Pav – a street food staple reimagined
- Chalk Stream Trout – fresh, clean, and elegantly British
- ‘The Brummie Welcome’ – an edible introduction to the city’s diverse hospitality.
Signature dishes include:
- Soup & Truffle Scone – a delicate play on comfort and decadence
- BBQ Hispi – elevated with togarashi spice, smoked butter, and capers, showcasing Treadwell’s flair for layering bold, umami-driven flavours
- Jersey Royal with Toro, Eel Milk & Crème Fraiche – a complex and luxurious rework of humble ingredients
- Carabinero Prawn – paired with prawn head caramel, sambal, and kaffir, fusing European seafood with Southeast Asian intensity
- Peterhead Market Cod – dressed in goma dare, ponzu, and served with a crispy bun
- Edward’s Herb-Fed Chicken – finished with Thai sauce, turmeric butter, and seasonal courgette
To close, the menu features two whimsical desserts:
- Milk Street – a nostalgic nod to the city’s industrial past, with crisp, crumble, and ice cream
- 1926 – a luxurious finale of PX prune, almond, and 75% Tulakalum chocolate, paying tribute to timeless European pastry technique.
With just 16 seats and an interior inspired by a punk attitude, 670 Grams continues to redefine what fine dining looks like in Birmingham. The new tasting menu is now available for booking here: 670grams.com
