Visitors are being urged to make the most of their final opportunity to experience a spectacular large-scale illuminated sculpture before it closes this winter.
Over 100,000 people have already experienced Helios at The Exchange in Birmingham city centre, run by the University of Birmingham - but the exhibit closes on Friday 13 November 2026.
The five-metre-wide immersive installation by acclaimed artist Luke Jerram uses detailed solar imagery from NASA to recreate the surface of the sun, with visitors raving about the experience.
Helios has proved so popular that the University of Birmingham is hosting a special farewell event on Wednesday 11 November at The Exchange, inviting visitors to experience at volume the specially composed soundscape that accompanies the work.
The free drop-in event will run from 5pm until 8pm, with the soundtrack featuring NASA recordings from solar missions, the dawn chorus, a summer beach, sun- and light-related festivals, and uplifting ambient music.
