West End actor Louise Dearman has been announced as Grizabella in Cats, showing at Birmingham Hippodrome this month.

A spectacular and captivating adaptation of TS Eliot’s Old Possum’s Book Of Practical Cats, this Andrew Lloyd Webber extravaganza premiered 45 years ago. The show is widely considered to be the production that redefined the modern musical, paving the way for a seemingly relentless stream of blockbuster hits and giving starring roles to Elaine Page and Sarah Brightman in the process.

Even an execrable film version a handful of years back failed to make a dent in the stage production’s longstanding global popularity, a fact supported by this brand-new and extensive tour.

Featured songs include Old Deuteronomy, Macavity: The Mystery Cat, Jellicle Ball - and, of course, the show’s famous anthem, Memory.

Louise Dearman is the only actor in the world to have played both Glinda and Elphaba in Wicked (Apollo Victoria Theatre). Other theatre credits include: Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat (UK tour); Evita (UK tour); Guys and Dolls (UK tour and Piccadilly Theatre); Grease (Victoria Palace Theatre and UK tour) and more.

Cats shows at Birmingham Hippodrome from Tuesday 27 October - Saturday 7 November. Tickets are on sale here.
