Moseley Folk & Arts Festival is set to return to the beautiful Moseley Park in 2019 from 30 August to 1 September. Every year people from across Birmingham and beyond flock to the park to witness a healthy mix of traditional, contemporary and downright experimental Folk, World and Roots music.

This year will be the fourteenth edition of the festival, which showcases unsigned acts amongst well-established international artists, making for a truly exciting bill. In recognition of all the other non-musical entertainment at Moseley Folk, organisers have changed the name of the festival to Moseley Folk & Arts.

So for 2019 you can not only expect our usual high calibre of music, showcasing the best in Folk, World, Roots and Americana but also a rich programme of Arts & Crafts, Comedy & Cabaret, Poetry & Literature and Talks & Debate.

Although the organisers behind Moseley Folk Festival are yet to announce the full line-up of artists performing in 2019, they have now revealed who will be bringing the festival to a close. Don McLean is set to take to the stage in a headline performance on Sunday 1st September.

Since hitting the charts in 1971, the ‘American Pie’ singer has amassed over 40 gold and platinum records worldwide. Don was inducted into the Songwriters’ Hall of Fame in 2004; artists from every musical genre have covered his songs, most notably Madonna and George Michael. He has also co-written tracks and performed with the likes of Drake and Ed Sheeran.

Those attending the festival in 2019 can expect to hear hits such as “Vincent (Starry Starry Night)”, “Castles In The Air”, “And I Love You So” and “Crying”, as well as the anthemic “American Pie”.

Organiser John Fell says “We couldn’t be more excited to be welcoming Don Mclean to Moseley Folk & Arts 2019! ‘Vincent’ and ‘Castle In The Air’ are two of my favourite all time songs and ‘American Pie’ is the ultimate sing-a-long! We are honoured to be bringing a genuine legend to Moseley Park this summer.

“We felt it was time to bring some new elements to Moseley Folk Festival and with that came the name change. We’ll be bringing Arts & Crafts, Comedy & Cabaret, Poetry & Literature, Talks & Debate and much more to really enrich the programme for 2019.”
