The Mrs Barbara Nice & Friends Podcast has returned to Brum Radio after a five-year hiatus.

Hosted by Mrs Barbara Nice, a.k.a Phoenix Nights star Janice Connolly, the podcast follows our favourite Brummie chatting with her impressively large collection of friends about their cool and crazy lives. From drag queens to comedians, expect an unfiltered chinwag from Barbara’s besties.

The show returned with Ada Campe, the variety artiste unafraid of receiving funny looks on public transport. They talk cabaret and comedy, bantering so much that the thirty minutes fly by. The same happens when she talks to Salford-born comedian Molly McGuinness, who dives deep into her favourite supermarkets.

Back in lockdown, Barbara spent her time asking friends how they were pushing through isolation – but not anymore! It’s been five years and, for better or worse, they’re all allowed outside again, which means they’ve been up to all sorts. And they’re not the only ones. On days when Barbara doesn’t have a visitor in her shed, she hits the shops, taking listeners along for the ride. She heads into town, gets spending and makes memories along the way...

Janice Connolly, the brains behind Barbara, is a highly commended actress and comedian. She has starred in Doctors, Coronation Street and So Awkward, and her latest show: Fun! With Barbara Nice received stellar reviews from The Guardian, The List and David Walliams. Connolly is also a source of great Birmingham pride, having received a British Empire Medal in 2017 for her contribution to community arts. She is also the founder of Women and Theatre, a Birmingham-based theatre company and charity that creates powerful work, reflecting everyday lives and representing diverse communities. Connolly has a rich history of doing Brummies proud and making the nation laugh, and The Mrs Barbara Nice & Friends Podcast promises to do the same.

The Mrs Barbara Nice & Friends Podcast is out now, with new episodes being released every Thursday. You can find it on the Brum Radio website and all major podcast platforms such as Spotify and Apple Music
