Beginning his career in 1990 with a commission for Sounds magazine, Gullick went on to become a leading photographer within British music journalism, contributing regularly to Melody Maker and NME, and producing album artwork and publicity photography for record labels. His work is known for its raw immediacy, emotional depth, and close collaborative approach.
Gullick has photographed and worked closely with artists including Nirvana, PJ Harvey, Nick Cave, Mark Lanegan, Cat Power, and Bonnie ‘Prince’ Billy. His images have become closely associated with a period of music marked by experimentation, intensity, and individuality.
