Janáček’s fairy tale, The Cunning Little Vixen, is viscerally updated and released into the urban forest of Digbeth for a primal reflection on life, death and humankind’s role in the destruction of its own habitat.

A live orchestra joins exceptional vocalists from Royal Birmingham Conservatoire, unleashing the scintillating soundtrack as the action unfolds in the round at Digbeth’s Secret Space venue, in three immersive, bite-sized chunks.

First performed in 1924, The Cunning Little Vixen has had a enduring appeal to audiences of all ages. This production, generously supported by the Linbury Trust Fund, finds the action updated to a Digbeth warehouse, the Secret Space.

The project is a collaboration between student singers, instrumentalists, set and fashion designers. Whether you’re new to opera or a seasoned fan we can promise an evening of rich invention and moving story-telling.

The Cunning Little Vixen plays at Secret Space, Digbeth on 2-4 March. Tickets are on sale here.
