An atmospheric glimpse into the lives of the ordinary people of Birmingham, through a carefully restored nineteenth-century courtyard of working people's houses. Moving from the 1840s to the 1970s, Birmingham Back to Backs is the last surviving courtyard of back to back houses -  these houses were literally built back to back around a communal courtyard. With fires alight and pans bubbling on the stoves, discover the smells, sounds and lives of the working people who occupied these communities.
