Birmingham City Council express their thanks for the outstanding work of our NHS on the frontline of Coronavirus with a light-up colour change for the Library of Birmingham.

Come 8pm this evening (Thursday 26 March), Library of Birmingham will cast Centenary Square's skyline in a slightly lighter shade of blue to match that recognisable in the NHS logo. The move shows support for our healthservice and its workers, who are working tirelessly throughout this crisis.

This coincides with Clap for Our Carers: the UK's NHS appreciation initiative. Tonight at 8pm nationwide applause commending the NHS will be heard up and down the country, as the nation takes to their windows, front doors, balconies, living rooms - wherever they find themselves - in audible thanks. This is similar to what we've already seen from communities in Spain and Italy.

Library of Birmingham add to the growing number of organisations turning 'NHS blue' in a show of national solidarity.
