With a week to go until the return of Shropshire Oktoberfest organisers have announced that although tickets for the Chrisbeon VIP tent have sold out, standard tickets currently remain available.
The popular event takes place at The Quarry, Shrewsbury on Friday 1 and Saturday 2 October and features an array of independent brewers, both local and from further afield.
CAMRA will be on site both days. As well as running a Hopportunity Bar - representing brewers unable to attend, CAMRA will judge beers ahead of crowning its favourite as 'Shropshire's Choice' on the Friday evening.
And if beer isn't your tipple there are a number of alternatives to choose from - including wine from Kerry Vale Vineyard, rum from The Buttermarket and gin and other tipples from Gin Different. There will also be a number of independent food vendors to help stave off any hunger pangs.
A gin tasting event courtesy of The Shropshire Distillery - complete with 32 singing pirates is programmed for Friday evening, while on Saturday, Connexis Comedy Club promises laughs aplenty with Eddy Brimson, Susan Murray and Sam Harland amongst the line-up.
Oktoberfest favourites Vorsprung Durch Oompah will provide musical entertainment on both evenings. Untamed Shrew, The Follicles and Five O'clock Hero also take to the main stage on the Friday evening, while Danny Jones, Groove Dynamite, The Endings, Chasing August, Dirty Rockin Scoundrels, The Vertigo Band, Asparagus & The Kilburn Habit and Call of the Kraken will make sure visitors are well entertained on Saturday.
Other attractions include a silent disco tent and Carpool Karaoke tipi. Local award-winning barbershop team Hinces will also be on hand if you fancy a haircut.
Speaking of the return of Oktoberfest, Shropshire Festival’s Director of Fun, Beth Heath, said, “There is so much we have missed over the last 18 months so we have decided that on the Saturday we will have 30 minutes of music dedicated to every missed celebration. They’ll be everything from Burns Night right through until Christmas. We’ll finish off with the entire beer tent singing Auld Lang Syne. It will be an amazing moment, and absolutely needed after such a rubbish time!
“Our ticket sales have been going crazy this year, especially with our VIP tickets. But fear not, there are discounted standard tickets still available online, and there will be standard priced tickets available until we reach capacity.
“Our motto for this year is bringing the fun back, and Shropshire Oktoberfest will definitely do that. We hope you can join us!’
