An annual event which has taken place in Newcastle-under-Lyme town centre since 2014 will this year take place online due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

The Homecoming is a one-day circus-inspired presentation celebrating local-born legend and circus founder, Philip Astley. It will be available to watch on the Appetite Facebook page HERE tomorrow, Saturday 27 June, from 10am.

Born in Newcastle-under-Lyme in 1742, Astley presented performances by acrobats, clowns and riders in a 42-foot ring, and in so doing invented the circus as we know it today.

Tomorrow's online event will look back on six years of the event and feature some impressive performances.

Festival organisers are asking locals to share photos and favourite family memories from the event on The Homecoming's Facebook page HERE throughout the day.
Remember to use #TheHomecoming and #LoveNUL.
