Multi award-winning theatre Lichfield Garrick has announced a star-studded line-up for its new season of entertainment.

Household favourites including comedian Rich Hall, BBC broadcaster Kate Humble, legendary comedian Jim Davidson and cricket commentator Jonathan Agnew, AKA “Aggers”, will be treading the boards alongside new talent from shows such as The Bench, Magic Circle member Kevin Quantum and Dorian from the Proper Job Theatre Company between January and May 2019.

In homage to the golden years of comedy, the theatre will also be welcoming Eric & Ern and Hancock’s Half Hour while classic Allo’ Allo’ inspires a new comedy dining experience with Rene & Edith.

The comedy continues with brash American stand-up Rich Hall and rising star Steve Bugeja, topped off by the return of the hilarious drama, Dirty Dusting, starring Leah Bell (Benidorm, I’m A Celebrity).

Karen Foster, Lichfield Garrick’s Executive Director, said: “We have a packed, star-studded programme for 2019 with entertainment for the whole family.

“With a second Best Theatre/Arts Venue award under our belt, the line-up just keeps on getting better at Lichfield Garrick and we are delighted today’s top names continue to bring their award-winning shows to Staffordshire, cementing our reputation as an outstanding entertainment venue.

“We look forward to welcoming many more visitors to the theatre in 2019 with this exciting programme of entertainment.”

For family fun, the theatre will host circus-themed activities in half-term while Milkshake! Live makes a welcome return and the classic children’s book character, Elmer the Elephant, is bought to life on the Garrick’s main stage.

The explosive Ministry of Science, the pre-historic Dinosaur World Live and mind-blowing Brianiac Live shows will entertain older children (or adults) while Lichfield Garrick is delighted to bring Narnia to life in its next Community Musical for 2019, The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe based on C.S Lewis’ timeless classic.

For the twinkle-toed, the theatre will welcome Strictly Come Dancing stars Giovanni Pernice & Luba Mushtuk, The Ballroom Boys with Ian Waite and Vincent Simone and Here Come The Girls featuring Diane Buswell and Amy Dowden while the talented Balletboyz bring their highly acclaimed new show – Them/Us – to complete a fantastic dance programme.

Topping the bill for drama is Vamos Theatre’s thought-provoking A Brave Face, the saucy Rita, Sue and Bob Too and the classic thriller The Lady Vanishes featuring an all-star cast, to be announced, from the company that brought very successful The Case of the Frightened Lady to the Lichfield Garrick.

Music lovers can take their pick from the Sounds of the Glenn Miller Era, Matt Ford’s swinging songs and The Drifters legend, Roy G Hemmings while local favourites Quill return by popular demand and a new performance from Bowjangles whose members sing, dance and play the story of Excalibow through music and comedy.

Earlier this year, the Lichfield Garrick won Best Theatre/Arts Venue in Staffordshire in the What’s On Readers’ Awards – for the second year in a row.

Previously the theatre scooped the UK Theatre Award in both 2016 and 2017 as the West Midlands’ Most Welcoming Theatre.

In addition to live entertainment, the venue offers a monthly film programme which will include in 2019 Mary Poppins, Frozen Sing A Long, Beauty and the Beast Sing A Long and the classic, Oliver!
