Staffordshire-based Drayton Manor Park has launched brand-new Zoo Experiences, allowing animal lovers to get up close and personal with some of the world’s most unique animals.
From tapirs to red pandas, snakes and skunks, budding zoo keepers can get behind-the-scenes access to the animals, meet the keepers that help look after them and take part in feeding and training sessions.
The park has five brand new Zoo Experiences on offer, including red panda, creepy crawly, reptile and skunk encounters, as well as exclusive tapir feeding sessions.
The red panda encounter is set to be a popular attraction. Budding zoo keepers will meet and observe a training session with Tika and Pema; the park’s adorable red panda pair. Visitors will be guided by an experienced keeper and partake in a training session, all while learning fun facts about the duo.
Participants in the tapir feeding sessions will be given the once in a lifetime opportunity to take a selfie with the park’s family of tapirs. Animal enthusiasts will help the experienced zoo keeper team feed these endangered mammals from their feeding platform, all while learning about the unique tapir family.
Attendees will also have exclusive access to Pepé, Drayton Manor’s very own pet skunk, in the private skunk encounter. Up to four people can get up close and personal with Pepé while learning all about the mischievous animals, asking questions and assisting the keepers with a special training session.
For those who prefer their animals creepy or scaly, the park is offering creepy crawly and reptile experiences.
The creepy crawly experience is the perfect opportunity to discover several different species of invertebrates and chat with the park’s experienced team members who have a wealth of odd facts about the creepy crawlies.
Drayton Manor Park’s reptile encounter sees visitors delving into the world of reptiles and meeting some of the world’s most intriguing cold-blooded animals, while discussing their native habitats, interesting food and behavioural habits.
William Bryan, Managing Director at Drayton Manor Park, said: “We pride ourselves on being able to give our customers unforgettable experiences here at Drayton Manor Park.
“That’s why we’ve launched our new range of new Zoo Experiences. From red pandas to creepy crawlies, there will be something for everyone to enjoy at the park this season.
“This isn’t just about the public being able to interact with the animals but also to learn about them and the vital conservation work that occurs here at the park’s zoo.”
