As the holiday season approaches, an environmental charity is offering unique experiences along the Coventry Canal to those looking for something a little different to do this Christmas. This December, The Living Environment Trust has organised a series of festive cruises on board 70ft narrowboat The Coventrian.

Taking place at lunchtime on Sunday 4 December, and at dinner time on Saturday 10 and Friday 16 December, these novel cruises are specially tailored for families and come complete with a delicious meal. Roast turkey with stuffing balls will be on the menu, along with pigs in blankets, cranberry sauce, roast potatoes, peas, carrots, sprouts and pan made turkey gravy. A vegetarian option is also available on request. A choice of apple crumble and custard, Christmas pudding and custard or cheese and biscuits is available for dessert. Departing from and returning to Swan Lane Wharf, the Christmas lunch and dinner cruises are charged at £25 per person or £15 for children under 11 years old.

Raffaella Tentindo from the Living Environment Trust said: “Cruising down Coventry’s canal on the Coventrian provides everyone with a chance to celebrate the season in a completely unique way. We have a delicious menu on offer for diners to come and treat themselves to a trip down the canal with our Christmas cruises.”

On Sunday 18 December, kids can also enjoy a special treat when Father Christmas comes aboard the Coventrian on December 18, just in time to get them excited for Christmas Day. Tickets to see Santa on board the boat cost £10 per child and £3 per adult.

To coincide with Wasps rugby matches against Connacht and Bath this December, the Wasps water taxi will also be in operation on Sunday 11 December (1pm kick-off) and on Christmas Eve (2pm kick-off). The Wasps Taxi Cruises run one-way only and cost £10 from Canal Basin, including a hot batch and a hot drink, or £5 from Hawkesbury Junction with no hot batch included. Season ticket holders boarding at Canal Basin can enjoy 10% off the cost of travelling.
