Andrew Lloyd Webber has signed up to take part in a new coronavirus trial with the hope of speeding up the reopening of theatres.

The musical theatre legend announced to his Twitter followers that he'd be joining a study this week.

The study Lloyd Webber will be joining is a collaboration between University of Oxford and drug company AstraZeneca, working on the new vaccine ChAdOx1 nCoV-19.

Writing to his 209,000 followers, the 72-year-old said: ‘I am excited that tomorrow I am going to be vaccinated for the Oxford Covid-19 trial. ‘I’ll do anything to prove that theatres can reopen safely.’
