Selfridges Birmingham is counting down to a host of children’s space-themed activities as part of its annual Live + Loud event festival this month.

Live + Loud, the yearly celebration of the city’s cultural diversity, takes place at the department store between Thursday 26 September, and Sunday 29 September, and will feature a host of family activities, beauty and exclusive brand events.

For children, Selfridges will host an exciting day of crafts, dance, music and performances on Saturday, September 28, between 11am and 3pm, to mark the 50th anniversary of the moon landings.

The Selfridges Space Party on Level 1 will feature complimentary cosmic activities, such as face painting, and arts and crafts where children can make space-themed masks, alien antennae and flying saucers, while staff from Birmingham Museums and Art Gallery will be on hand to teach youngsters all about space - showing them a bird’s eye view of the lunar surface and revealing what the moon smells like.

There’ll also be roaming performers, who’ll be protecting shoppers from an intergalactic battle and showing off some cool skills, while a zero gravity dance floor will encourage party goers to show off their best space age dance moves, and attendees are positively encouraged to wear fancy dress.

Sam Watts, General Manager at Selfridges Birmingham, said: “We are excited to put on yet another great day of complimentary activities for children in the store. Combining fun learning with music, performances and dance for Live + Loud is a great example of why we’re still a leading destination for families.”
