With spectacular seasonal events taking place across two weekends in the city centre, Christmas in Coventry is set to be extra special this year. Making preparations for the big day can be stressful, but thanks to Coventry BID, from 24-26 November and from 15-17 December, a mix of street performance, live music and more will help harried shoppers to relax and enjoy the festive atmosphere.

In Broadgate, a mix of shopping, food and entertainment will help you celebrate the season in style. Look out for street performers roaming around the area, including Thomas Trilby, Larkin About, Electric Cabaret, Granny Turismo and Diggin’ Holes.

During both weekends, a main stage will play host to music from The Upsiders, Charlie Healey, Coventry Festival Brass Band, Alex Norman, UnScripted, Silverside, Impact Steel Band, Thrill Collins, Coventry Rock Choir, The Voice stars Tom Barnwell and Letitia George and rock and roll band Phoenix. Top presenters have also been drafted in to host the event, including Free Radio Breakfast Show favourites, JD, Roisin and Producer Paul, as well as CBBC star Kevin Mcgreevy.

A wide array of unique gifts will be available from a total of 30 temporary stalls, while in Millennium Place, a range of fairground rides will provide a fun way to take some time out from the hustle and bustle.

Coventry BID manager Trish Willetts explained: “We wanted to make Christmas a real event this year, which is why we have decided to host these two seasonal events. We are so excited for these weekends and everyone is welcome to come along and see everything that is on offer. The aim is for them to have a real holiday vibe to them and make sure that everyone can get into the spirit of the season.

“We have a fantastic mix of entertainment and shopping on the menu from street performers to a whole host of musical talent. With so much going on throughout the two events, there is something to cater for all ages. Having these weekends taking place, along with Alesha Dixon coming to switch on the Christmas lights and the Coca Cola Christmas Truck coming in December, the holidays really are going to be spectacular in Coventry.”

In addition to the Festive Weekends, food and drink stalls will be open in Broadgate from Friday 24 November through to the end of December, serving up a whole host of tasty treats to tempt your tastebuds.
