Derby’s soon-to-be-opened Museum Of Making has launched a new ‘summer challenge’ to inspire the young makers of tomorrow.

The Midlands Maker Summer Challenge 2020 kicks off a year-long programme of activities drawing on the region’s rich manufacturing heritage and designed to inspire the UK’s next generation of makers.

The summer challenge is open to young people aged between 11 and 18. They can participate either as individuals or part of a team. Entries can be submitted from 17 July to 24 August.

The Museum Of Making will open next year at Derby Silk Mill, site of the world’s first factory. The visitor attraction will celebrate 300 years of making ‘to inspire and support the makers of tomorrow’.
