There’s so much going on across Solihull town centre this Christmas so a round-up of local events has been created, including some of the highlights.

 Jingle Bell Jog

Join Solihull BID to spread plenty of festive cheer this December by donning a Santa suit and completing the Jingle Bell Jog to raise money for homeless charity Change Into Action, taking part in, and being sponsored by, Mell Square.

The Jingle Bell Jog, taking place on Sunday 15th December, will see Solihull town centre filled with more than 100 Santas.

Run, walk, dance, jog or jingle your way around our family-friendly 2.5km fun run through Solihull town centre. Don't worry about the training, this festive run is about dressing up and coming together with friends and family.

Registrations are open to both adults and children, every single person who completes the 2.5km course will be given a Santa suit, a special Santa medal and a voucher for a free hot drink and mince pie as well as an exclusive Mell Square reusable branded water bottle.

Alongside having plenty of fun, your entrance fee will be helping to raise vital funds for the Change Into Action charity. Registrations cost £12* for adults and £6* for children under 12, *plus booking fees. Please note that children’s Santa suits start at age 4.

Change into Action is an Alternative Giving Scheme launched earlier this year in Solihull, supporting specialist organisations and outreach services working to change the circumstances of rough sleepers and those at risk of becoming rough sleepers. Working alongside agencies such as the West Midlands Combined Authority, Solihull Metropolitan Borough Council and West Midlands Police, Solihull BID hopes to make a lasting difference.

The race starts and ends in Mell Square, Solihull. You will be able to register and collect your suit between 8am – 9am. The race will start at 9.15am after a fun warm up, led by one of énergie Fitness’ personal trainers. énergie Fitness is a gym situated on the Warwick Road and is part of Mell Square.

The Christmas magic doesn’t end there, as Touchwood has plenty of other icy-themed surprises in store to mark the most wonderful time of the year - and thaw any scrooges! From special guests and frosty fun crafts, there will be plenty for the whole family to enjoy. So, keep your eyes peeled for more details coming soon.

Core Theatre Panto

Christmas isn't complete without a visit to the panto. The Core Theatre has lots of exciting shows happening over the festive season including Santa in Love and Robin Hood, a family favourite pantomime.

Robin Hood comes from the team behind last year's Sleeping Beauty, a brand-new pantomime adventure that targets your funny bone!

This year, travel with them deep into the heart of magical Sherwood Forest, where the men wear the tights and the women wear the trousers. This show is jam packed with daring duels, stunning sets, outrageous costumes and a very merry man in a dress that will set your heart a quiver.

Robin Hood is on from 13th December till 5th January with a relaxed performance on January 2nd. Make sure you get your tickets booked now, I Sher-wood if I were you!

Gift Donation Station

Not everyone will receive a gift this Christmas, but you have the power to change that. In a partnership with youth homelessness charity, St Basils, Mell Square will be giving you the opportunity to donate unwanted presents as part of its Gift Donation Station.

In particular, organisers are looking for 'starter packs' which help to increase the chances that young people can successfully move on from St Basils. Items in the starter packs help young people moving into new accommodation and include bed linen (must be new), crockery and kitchen utensils, long-life packets or tins of food, toiletries and more.

Any starter packs or gifts will be gratefully received, so simply head to 50 Drury Lane on Saturday 14th December and Saturday 11th January from 10am – 4pm to donate. For more information, visit
