English Heritage is calling on the nation to Dance for VE Day from the comfort and safety of their own homes, to mark the 75th anniversary of the end of the Second World War in Europe.

The charity will lend some swing-time spirits to the nation's commemorations by giving people the chance to get up off their sofas and Lindy Hop till they drop in true 1940s style.

Across its social media channels, English Heritage will offer lessons to help people get the hang of the popular war-time dance craze, with a virtual dance class taking place at midday. Everyone is then invited to join in an online mass-participation dance at 5pm.

English Heritage is also encouraging people to mark the anniversary with their own commemoration at home, and have provided a VE Day 75 online pack to help get plans underway. The pack includes 1940s recipes, dance steps and even a Spotify playlist.
