Wolverhampton's West Park will host the Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games cycling time trial on Thursday 4 August 2022.

The historic city park will be the start and finish location of the time trial, which is often referred to as ‘the race of truth’.

The Games, which run from 28 July to 8 August 2022, will see a wide range of sports - including swimming, diving, boxing, judo, gymnastics, weightlifting and triathalon - being hosted in a selection of venues across the region. In total the event will feature 19 sports, with eight para sports integrated into the programme.

The time-trial announcement was welcomed by the leader of City of Wolverhampton Council, Councillor Ian Brookfield, with the event expected to offer a strong economic boost for the city, as well as potential volunteering opportunities for the local community.
