This autumn, Wightwick Manor and Gardens lights up with its first-ever Diwali celebration.
The historic house will be transformed in celebration of Diwali, the Festival of Light, offering a vibrant blend of South Asian heritage and the Manor’s artistic legacy.
Fusion: A Diwali Installation invites visitors on a vibrant journey through the manor, wandering through rooms adorned with marigolds, symbolic of celebration and joy in Indian culture, and diya lamps, which represent the triumph of light over darkness.
In the Lower Hall, there will be a display of Bengali saris, whilst the historic family staircase will be transformed with flowing sari fabrics, lighting, and Morris-inspired patterns.
Tracy Williams, General Manager at Wightwick Manor and Gardens explains: “This is the first Diwali celebration of its kind at Wightwick. What makes it special is that it’s been shaped by the voices and creativity of the communities around us. Fusion: A Diwali Installation is a celebration of shared stories, artistic expression, and cultural connection - bringing together the rich traditions of India with the distinctive design heritage of the Manor. We want everyone to feel welcome and inspired to take part.”
Arun Chand, Creative Producer at the National Trust, reflects on the evolution of the Manor’s cultural programming: “Following the incredible energy DJ PUN1T brought to the courtyard duringColour the Mind in 2024, we knew we wanted to go even further. This Diwali celebration is part of our ongoing commitment to create inclusive, meaningful experiences that reflect the diverse communities we serve.”
