An innovative physical activity game that has already engaged more than two million people nationally has launched in Bloxwich.

Beat the Street launched on 25 February 2026 and will run until 25 March 2026, thanks to funding from Transport for West Midlands and a National Lottery grant from Sport England.

Beat the Street encourages people of all ages to get outside and get active. Residents will see special sensors known as Beat Boxes on lampposts around the area.

Residents in and around Bloxwich can pick up a free contactless card from one of four distribution points. Alternatively, players aged 13+ can choose to participate via a mobile app, which can be downloaded via Google Play or iOS App Store. Schools in the Bloxwich, Blakenall and Leamore areas will also participate in teams.

Players walk, cycle or wheel between Beat Boxes which are spaced half a mile apart, hovering the cards as they go. The further players travel, the more points they score.

Beat the Street Bloxwich features four themed weeks: Go Play, Go Active, Go Travel and Go Explore - encouraging players to discover what is on offer including leisure, parks and green spaces, waterways and much more.

On selected dates, double points will be up for grabs and at the end of the game, a range of prizes will be awarded to the highest scoring players and teams.

Residents can pick up a card and map from one of four distribution points (check venue for opening times):
