Visitors to the Red House Glass Cone in Wordsley will soon have even more reasons to explore the historic site, with a range of new businesses set to move into its craft and office studios.

The 230-year-old heritage attraction is expanding its creative community, welcoming a potter, taxidermist, wood turner and gin school to its craft spaces. The studios are designed to give visitors the chance to see traditional crafts being created, purchase handmade products and even try their hand at new skills.

The newcomers will join established tenants including Glass Quarter Designs, Tandem Crafts, Blowfish Glass, Elliot Walker Glass Sculpture, I Luv Pebbles and Glen Callum Associates.

The site’s café, Heavenly Baking at the Cone, which opened in October last year, has already become a popular addition for visitors.

Meanwhile, Alikease Holistic & Wellbeing Therapies, Beauty by DuMont and MG Training and Events Ltd are among the latest businesses taking up residence in the office studios.

MG Training and Events founder Martin Griffiths, who provides accredited first aid training and medical cover for events, has also donated a defibrillator and bleed kit for use at the Cone.

Councillor Damian Corfield, Dudley Council’s cabinet member for neighbourhoods, welcomed the arrivals, saying they would bring “fresh energy” to the attraction while helping to enhance the visitor experience. He also thanked Martin for his “incredibly generous” donation, describing the new equipment as a valuable addition to the site’s existing first aid provision.
