The University of Birmingham has announced that its annual Summer Festival of Music will be available to view online this year.
Running from Friday 12 to Friday 19 June, the 2020 line-up includes miniBEAST, virtual video performances from the Summer Festival Orchestra & Music Society Brass Band, and a host of new music presented by the Creative Exchange.
Also featured are performances by the university's jazz orchestra, Jazz Collective & Samba Band, and the Chinese Gufeng Pop Ensemble.
The online festival also includes archived performances from student operas & concerts.
Some of the work produced by the university's Alumni musicians also features.
Commenting on the eight-day event, the University of Birmingham's Jo Sweet said: “Throughout the festival we will be working on a new project, bringing together student composers and musicians. Composers have been tasked to write Miniatures In Isolation - a group of short pieces giving a voice to their experiences during lockdown. Student musicians will be working hard to learn and record the music, and we can’t wait to share the result of this exciting creative project!”
