Newhampton Arts Centre's (NAC) first ever online Paint The Day event has been hailed a huge success.

Nearly 90 artists took part in the Wolverhampton venue's annual visual arts competition last Saturday.

An online exhibition of works completed during the challenge is now available to view.

Participants were challenged to create an artwork based on a subject they could access within a mile-radius of their own homes.

Subject matter included familiar Victorian buildings in Wolverhampton’s city centre, canal sides, wildlife, and depictions of participants' own gardens. Mediums used included ink, pencil, charcoal, pastels, acrylics, oils, watercolour, felt mixed media, collage, photography and even upcycled furniture.

NAC is asking all participants to keep hold of their artworks so that they can be displayed in a physical exhibition at the venue in the autumn. The event will provide people with the chance to bid on artworks.

The show is free to access and runs until 12 July.
