Following on from Laugh Out Loud Comedy Club’s extremely successful debut at Huntingdon Hall last month, they’re back to tickle Worcester’s funny bone on 14 February with a new show starring Steve Shanyaski, Sean Percival, Mike Cox and Barry Dodds (MC).
Bored of his day job, Steve Shanyaski had an epiphany, walked out of the door and straight onto the comedy stage - he hasn’t looked back since. Endlessly charming, Steve’s inherent warmth and cheeky, roguish twinkle shine through his material, elevating him to quite another level as a performer. Within the first six months of his comedy career he made it through to the semi-finals of the BBC New Comedian of the Year, the North West Comedian of the Year Final, and later that year was booked to appear on the BBC7 Radio Showcase Spanking New. Since then he has gone from strength to strength, adding to this list of accolades by being named the Holsten Pils Comedian of the Year, and the Birmingham Comedy Festival’s Best Breaking Talent. Combining surreal observations with wildly tangential imaginings, his off-kilter set pieces have audiences fully immersed in ‘Stevie World’ as he leads them, Pied Piper-like, down the charming avenues of his inner mind. Steve is a long established and popular headliner, regularly closing at Jongleurs, The Stand, The Glees, The Frog and Bucket and many of the UK’s other top comedy nights. Following 2009’s ‘Reality Check’ Steve returned to The Edinburgh Fringe Festival in 2011 with his 4 star-reviewed show Steve Shanyaski’s Life Survival Bible. A popular choice amongst the late night festival goers, audiences left happy and glowing after an hour of his high energy quirkiness and slick confident routines. This was an opinion shared by critics, who repeatedly awarded him with 4 stars and gushing compliments.
Sean Percival's brand of comedy steers clear of the surreal and confronts realism in an explosively funny way. Hailing from the Black Country, Sean is an ex-welder from Dudley (“It’s a lovely place to come from but bloody horrible to go back to”) whose act is down to earth but bang up to date with its upfront attitude. Sean's brand of comedy steers clear of the surreal and confronts realism in an explosively funny way. A festival favourite, he has performed at the Edinburgh, Glastonbury and Reading Festivals, and as a well-established headliner he performs at all major comedy clubs around the UK as well as being a regular host for the Jongleurs comedy clubs. Radio credits - comedy in demand as a script writer, Sean works regularly with likes of Johnny Vaughan for the Capital Radio group. He spent two years writing and performing on Capital FM's drive time radio show in Birmingham and for Heart FM in Birmingham, and provided the voice for "Black Country Bob" on both those shows fronted by Talk Radio's host and impressionist Ian Danter
Mike Cox has quickly made his mark on the comedy circuit with his sharp wit and everyday cynicism which have seen him crowned winner of the Fosters South Coast Comedian of the Year, while he reached the final of Amused Moose Laugh Off 2016 both the semi-finals of So You Think You're Funny in 2012 and The Leicester Square New Comedian of the Year in 2013. Mike’s accessible style and ease with both mainstream and alternative audiences currently make him one of the most enjoyable comics to watch.
Barry Dodds is a Patreon Creator, comedian, gamer, ghost hunter, minister, Erasure super fan, occasional boxer, a presenter of The Parapod and the co-star in the soon to be released film: The ParaPod Movie, along with Parapod co-presenter Ian Boldsworth. Barry has been serving up his chunky comedy soup since he was 21. He’s been a finalist in comedy competitions such as Jimmy Carr’s Comedy Idol & Jongleurs Last Laugh Comedy Search and supported comedians like Jason Manford on his UK tour. He’s won the odd award along the way too! He recently picked up the Best MC trophy for the third year in a row at the Midlands Comedy Awards 2017. Jasper Carrott even called him “Very Impressive” once.
All line ups are subject to change, but don’t worry, we’ll only replace them with someone just as funny!
