This memorable one-act offering explores the character of a 69-year-old man who is described by the play’s writer, Samuel Beckett, as ‘filled up to his teeth with bitterness’.
Listening to a tape he made on his 39th birthday, Krapp revisits fragments of his own life and contemplates how the fires of passion which he felt as a young man have been transformed into a simple “burning to be gone”.
National Theatre and Royal Shakespeare Company actor David Westhead plays Krapp in a production directed by Academy Award nominee Stockard Channing.
