Crowne Plaza Birmingham City Centre has once again been recognised with the prestigious Green Key International Sustainability Award for 2025, reaffirming its continued commitment to environmental  responsibility and sustainable hospitality.

Green Key sets the standard for excellence in the field of environmental responsibility and sustainable operation within the tourism sector. Each accredited establishment is rigorously assessed against strict international standards set by the Foundation for Environmental Education (FEE) and supported by the World Tourism Organisation and the UN Environment Programme. Criteria include staff involvement, guest engagement, and sustainable management of energy, water, waste, cleaning products, and food and beverage operations.

This latest recognition follows the hotel’s major refurbishment project, which has upgraded every guest room and public space. Sustainability was central to the design and delivery of the refurbishment, from energy-efficient lighting and temperature systems to waste-minimising construction practices to donating replaced bedding and linen to charity. The refreshed interiors offer guests a modern, comfortable, and eco conscious stay experience.

Crowne Plaza Birmingham City Centre continues to implement a range of environmental initiatives, including replacing air-conditioning units with higher-rated energy-efficient systems, refurbishing lift mechanics for improved performance, and installing new boilers with enhanced efficiency.
