Rock Choir LIVE brought the festive spirit to the BP Pulse Live Arena in Birmingham on Saturday night, delivering the Ultimate Christmas Party to a sold-out crowd and making history as the UK’s largest ever sing-along concert.
A record-breaking 20,000 singers travelled from across the UK, including Scotland, Cornwall, Wales and Northern Ireland, to take part in this extraordinary celebration of music, community and Christmas magic. The landmark event featured two dazzling shows in one day, marking the biggest pop concert Rock Choir has ever staged. Rock Choir LIVE transformed the audience into the choir itself, inviting every attendee to become a meaningful part of the sound, atmosphere and emotion that filled the arena.
Founded by Caroline Redman Lusher MBE, Rock Choir is the world’s largest contemporary choir and a pioneer of the mass-singing movement that has swept the UK for nearly two decades. Caroline was joined on stage by 100 Rock Choir Leaders, who together formed The Rock Choir Vocal Group — a powerful, expertly blended ensemble that guided the audience through an immersive, uplifting and deeply memorable musical journey.
Caroline’s warmth, empathy, and quick-witted humour flowed throughout the show, drawing the audience closer which made the arena feel intimate despite its vast size. Her presence along with The Rock Choir Vocal Group ensured that every attendee felt personally involved, valued and part of the magic unfolding around them.
The Birmingham audience was treated to extraordinary performances from Sam Ryder, Emeli Sandé and Russell Watson, with DJ Pat Sharp igniting the arena with an energising pre-show set.
Sam Ryder was visibly stunned as more than 12,000 voices sang back to him during his hit ‘Mountain’ filling the arena with harmony. Emeli Sandé captivated the crowd with “Yes You Can” and ‘Next to Me’ with the whole arena joining in — including thousands of Rock Choir Members who had learned the arrangements earlier this year.
Caroline and Russell opened their segment with a powerful and emotional duet of ‘Don’t Give Up,’ the iconic Peter Gabriel and Kate Bush classic. Their voices blended beautifully, creating a tender and affecting moment that symbolised the strength, unity and resilience at the heart of Rock Choir. Immediately afterwards, Russell delivered a breath-taking rendition of ‘You Raise Me Up,’ bringing the entire arena to its feet and moving many to tears.
The Rock Choir Vocal Group delivered a feel-good set of hit after hit, radiating joy, precision and boundless energy. With 90 vocalists on stage, their collective sound was both powerful and exhilarating, showcasing the very best of what Rock Choir gives to communities across the UK. Together with promoters Cuffe and Taylor, Rock Choir produced a spectacular Christmas extravaganza that many audience members described as unforgettable with widespread calls for a nationwide tour.
For the first time, Rock Choir LIVE opened its doors to the general public, who were captivated by the scale, creativity and warmth of the production. The show featured breath-taking special effects, including pyrotechnics, arena-wide snowfall and confetti cannons, transforming the space into a festive wonderland and ensuring an unforgettable sensory experience for everyone present.
Rock Choir LIVE arrives at a moment when people are seeking real, shared experiences that lift the spirit and bring communities together. After years of increased digital interaction, mass sing-along events offer audiences the chance to reconnect through music in ways that boost confidence, happiness and wellbeing. Known for its uplifting repertoire, inclusive ethos and life-enhancing impact, Rock Choir continues to bring people together through music in powerful and joyful ways.
