Birmingham Rep today announces a plethora of new shows coming to its stages in 2026 which go on-sale this week.
Fresh from opening their 2025 festive world premiere Sherlock Holmes and The 12 Days of Christmas to incredible audience reaction, their 2026/27 Christmas productions are now also on-sale.
J M Barrie’s much loved children’s story, Peter Pan is given a sprinkling of Rep magic when it plays in The House from Wednesday 18 November 2026 – Sunday 17 January 2027. Get set to go on an unforgettable journey to Neverland with Peter, Wendy, Tink and The Lost Boys in this enchanting production, adapted by Phil Porter with original music from Ruth Chan, and directed by The Rep’s Artistic Director, Joe Murphy.
Then, for younger audiences, Hans Christian Andersen’s classic fairy tale The Ugly Duckling plays in The Door from Thursday 3 December 2026 – Sunday 10 January 2027 by Katherine Chandler and directed by Rep Associate Artist Caroline Wilkes. This delightful adaptation reimagines this classic charming fairy tale and offers the perfect introduction to theatre for our younger audiences.

Balletboyz return to The Rep on Tuesday 16 June with their brand-new production Still Pointless – marking the 25th anniversary of the company’s critically acclaimed debut, Pointless.
10 world-class dancers open with the world-premiere of a brand-new commission, taking audiences through a retrospective journey, incorporating live dance and film, the evening will feature excerpts of work from the company’s celebrated history.
2026 will also see a a new version of Mark Haddon’s best-seller The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time in a co-production with Melting Pot. Coming to The Rep from Saturday 5 – Saturday 19 September 2026, it is the first major production since the National Theatre’s Olivier and Tony Award winning show. Inventive, gripping, and moving, The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night- Time combines the intrigue of a whodunnit with a powerful coming-of-age story in an unforgettable theatrical event.

On Friday 13 March audiences can enjoy an electric night of performance poetry, rhythm, and truth as Apples and Snakes brings the legendary Jawdance to The Rep. Promising a showcase of the very best in contemporary spoken word it’s a celebration of poetry that transcends boundaries and amplifies new voices.
Jawdance is in collaboration with UniSlam, a poetry festival based around the UK and Ireland National Inter-University Poetry Slam, bringing together teams of poets and performers to battle it out for the UniSlam Champions title which culminates at The Rep on Sunday 15 March. See poets compete live on stage in Semi-Finals and a thrilling Grand Final, alongside some of Britain's leading contemporary poets. Hosted by poet and performer Vanessa Kisuule.
The award-winning Tribhangi Dance Theatre present UBUNTU a high energy production that celebrates global cultures where India and South Africa come together in rhythm and dance on Saturday 28 March.
Combine the strong physicality of African dance with the grace of classical Indian Bharatanatyam, also incorporating colourful Afro-fusion and contemporary styles.
The venue are also excited to announce details of Rep Rising the summer festival featuring an exciting programme of theatre performed by emerging talent from The Rep’s Young Rep and Rep Pathways programmes, which comes to The Studio from Wednesday 1 – Saturday 18 July.

Nancy Harris’s bold, contemporary retelling of The Red Shoes. Hans Christian Andersen’s dark fairy-tale of dance, desire and destruction will be performed by Rep Studio 8 from Wednesday 1 – Friday 3 July.
Young Rep Seniors take to the stage in Polly Teale’s bold and imaginative adaptation of Charlotte Brontë’s classic novel Jane Eyre from Tuesday 7 – Wednesday 8 July.
The Rep’s theatre ensemble for young adults, The Company, present the classic Greek tragedy Antigone, from Friday 10 – Monday 13 July. This classic tale finds fresh resonance in a world still wrestling with power, conscience, and the courage to speak out, adapted by bestselling writer and poet Hollie McNish.
Closing the festival, Young Rep Seniors present George Orwell’s dystopian classic 1984, adapted for the stage by Robert Ickle and Duncan Macmillan, from Friday 17 – Saturday 18 July. Promising a tense, unsettling and strikingly contemporary staging, this production is reimagined for our current moment: immediate, gripping and uncomfortably impossible to ignore.
Then on Wednesday 22 – Saturday July, Boundless Theatre present the Olivier Award-nominated Blue Mist, a sharp, darkly funny story about truth, trust and ambition, directed by The Rep’s former Resident Assistant Director, Milli Bhatia.

Open Theatre present an immersive adventure through Neverland when Search for The Second Star comes to The Rep on Saturday 24 January.
Full of live music, play and discovery this magical production is the perfect experience for young people with learning disabilities, using movement, music, and visual storytelling, including gentle sensory moments and plenty of chances to join in.
Then award-winning inclusive theatre company Hijinx, in association with Blind Summit, present their darkly hilarious, critically acclaimed production, Meet Fred from Wednesday 4 – Thursday 5 March. With biting wit, razor-sharp political satire, and moments of unexpected tenderness, this darkly hilarious, critically acclaimed production follows Fred, a cloth puppet just trying to live an ordinary life – get a job, find love, be part of society.
Award-winning writer and performer Rosalie Minnitt brings her cult comedy hit Clementine to The Rep on Friday 15 – Saturday 16 May as part of its UK tour. Set roughly “in the past”, this is a story about sickly sisters, self-love and Sylvanian Families. Bonnets at the ready, ladies, for the debut character comedy show of the (Scorpio) season.
Actor, writer and TV presenter Joe Tracini makes his Rep debut with this stand-up comedy special based and named after his bestselling book – 10 Things I Hate About Me on Friday 22 – Saturday 23 May. This show isn’t just laughs, it’s also about mental illness, good liars, bad ideas, Lorraine Kelly and a gang lord forcing him… to hold a raw chicken? This mix of comedy, storytelling and some home-truths is a must see.
Finally, Thunder Road Theatre present the chilling sci-fi horror The Void just in time for the scare-season of Halloween on Tuesday 27 – Wednesday 28 October. Combining powerful illusions, atmospheric projections and a creeping sense of dread, set in a decaying future of desperate humans, all-seeing AI, and memories of a distant, dangerous past, this story asks – what are you afraid of?
